One of my favorite quick getaway places in Victoria: the chilled-out coastal town of Lorne along the famous Great Ocean Road! I've been on schoolies here, camping and staying at the Great Ocean Road Backpackers hostel. I love this place. It's quiet, it's close to Melbourne (3 hours train and bus ride from Southern Cross) and it's so picturesque. I've been here on my own twice just to get away from the city life of Melbourne. It's the best place to just do some personal reflection, heaps of reading and taking long walks... You can go hiking, exploring the rock pools, picnicking in the forest-like gardens along the beach, swimming, sun bathing, body surfing all in one day!
